As part of N Ally Mohamed Inc., our South African occupational therapy practice offers evidence-based, person-centred care tailored to each client’s goals, environment, and stage of life. We provide both home-based and in-practice occupational therapy services, making support more accessible for children, adolescents, adults, and older persons. Our scope includes paediatrics, mental health, neurorehabilitation, hand therapy, vocational rehabilitation, geriatric care, and medico-legal assessments, allowing us to manage a wide range of functional challenges under one practice. Optimal Functioning Occupational Therapy is HPCSA-registered, BHF-accredited, Resilient Health Accredited, WorkAbility BNAP Certified, and an ASP for PPO Serve (TVCT). Whether you need occupational therapy for developmental support, recovery after illness or injury, return-to-work rehabilitation, or objective medico-legal reporting, our team is committed to restoring dignity, independence, and meaningful participation in everyday life.

NABEEL ALLY MOHAMED 

CHIEF OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST/ EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Nabeel Ally Mohamed is the Executive Director and Chief Occupational Therapist at Optimal Functioning Occupational Therapy. He holds a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy from the University of Pretoria and has a clinical focus on neurological rehabilitation and psychiatric occupational therapy, with a particular interest in integrative occupational therapy approaches within mental health and complex rehabilitation.

With more than nine years of experience within the healthcare sector, Nabeel has developed extensive knowledge in patient care, multidisciplinary rehabilitation, and healthcare service delivery. His professional experience spans a range of clinical, operational, and leadership roles, providing him with a comprehensive understanding of rehabilitation within diverse healthcare environments.

 

As founder and clinical lead of the practice, Nabeel provides strategic direction and clinical oversight, ensuring that services remain aligned with evidence-based occupational therapy practice and high professional standards. His work focuses on supporting individuals with neurological and mental health conditions to improve functional independence, participation in meaningful daily activities, and overall quality of life.

 

In addition to his healthcare experience, Nabeel has held management and operational roles within both the healthcare and travel sectors, which have strengthened his leadership, organisational, and systems-based approach to service delivery. This broad professional background informs his holistic perspective on rehabilitation, particularly when supporting individuals to return to work, community participation, and meaningful life roles.

CARETHA BRONKHORST

SENIOR OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST

Caretha Bronkhorst is a dedicated Occupational Therapist with over five years of clinical experience in orthopaedic rehabilitation, hand therapy, neurorehabilitation, psychiatry, paediatrics, and geriatric care. She has worked across hospital, rehabilitation, and specialised educational settings, where she supports individuals in improving functional independence, daily living skills, and participation in meaningful activities.

Caretha obtained her Bachelor of Occupational Therapy from the University of the Free State and further completed a Diploma in Vocational Rehabilitation through the University of Pretoria. She has also completed additional training in Functional Capacity Evaluation and medico-legal assessment, enabling her to contribute to comprehensive rehabilitation and vocational assessment processes.

Caretha is passionate about providing evidence-based occupational therapy that supports clients in achieving their highest level of independence and quality of life. She is known for her calm, professional approach and her commitment to delivering person-centred rehabilitation services within multidisciplinary healthcare teams
